Swans Over Long Meadow Lake

Sometimes a painting takes awhile to tell its story, This is one of them. I started this early last winter on location. It was overcast and quiet. A fresh snow had happened a day or so before and I really felt the scene speaking out. I painted fast and pretty much finished and as the gear was being packed up a flock of Swans crossed  the lake and if they had not let out a call I would of missed them. The image was seared into my head and after a long time of drying and contemplating placement I added them in. After a few other tweaks I am finally calling the story told.
