The Moose In Snow

I saw the original of this by Evgeni Shcherbakov titled The Moose  at The Russian Museum of Art in Minneapolis a week ago and could not get the image out of my mind. It was so captivating to stand in front of I knew I had to see if I could paint it.  I found it fascinating to paint and felt part of the scene almost from the start. I used quite a bit from his painting and then finished it with my interpretation of how the story would unfold. Very pleased with the feel and look of the painting thus far and will set it aside for a fresh look.
